The Green-IT Roadmap: where the recommendations of the Quick scan (or detailed audit) are converted into a concrete action plan!

The Green-IT Assessment is the basis for the Green-IT Roadmap, where the recommendations of the Quick scan (or detailed audit) are converted into a concrete action plan. This will likely be a combination of projects and quick wins. The individual action points ultimately converge to a number of overall Green-IT objectives.

After the Green-IT Roadmap has been drafted by Green-ict, we will organize multiple meetings and/or workshops with the key stakeholders to discuss the content of our proposed roadmap. Based on this input, Green-ict will update the Roadmap and prepare a final document. In addition to the final Roadmap, we will also present the Green-IT Roadmap to the key stakeholders.

Good management starts with good measurement. This relates both to the data center as well as the office environment (PC's, printers, scanners, etc.).

It is useful to perform an initial measurement (baseline) to know how green is working at this point in time. This can be done by using tools that measure the actual power consumption for certain devices (in KwH). The measurements are linked to financial figures to also have a view on the current cost (Euro) for the energy consumption. We also link up to the overall invoice, received from your energy supplier to assess what percentage of the energy consumption is caused by ICT. Finally, we also make the link to the CO2 emissions (tons of CO2), caused by the energy consumed.

Next to the energy consumed, we also take into account other aspects such as the volume of paper consumed and disposed of, the number of devices purchased and disposed of etc. This gives us a comprehensive view on the full range of potential Green-IT measures.
